Explore joyful watercolor memories and the stories behind them captured in commissioned artwork.

I had complete license to do whatever I wanted for a bird-loving relative who was decorating a new apartment. I got to experiment-especially with the background- and it worked! She loves her new egret and how it looks in her new place.

When I saw the very gray and white (snow!) reference picture, I wasn't sure if I would be able to capture the distant trees and do the house justice, but I was able to brighten up the house a bit and it ended up looking just like a Christmas card!

I love the story that goes with this one! A precious granddaughter wanted to preserve the memories of her grandparents' home and the warm feelings that seeing it bring to mind. She knew that her Mom would love it, but so would her aunt...so she commissioned two! And couldn't wait 'til Christmas to gift them! They loved them- "she even got the crack in the driveway right!" So honored!

This one was also gifted by a family member to the person who took the absolutely stunning reference photo of his loved ones. I learned a lot on this one...to use a light pad to get the proportions perfect, and using ink to get the silhouettes dark enough (which technically makes this mixed media) The Rosa Gallery watercolor painted sky made a perfect background for the stars of the show!

What better Mother's Day gift for her flower-loving Mama than a DeClue's Dreamscape painted by "Aunt Tracy" of Mom's own favoritehot pink tulips? She also knew the exact vintage gold frame that her Mama would love. It was a hit! (And these tulips, and the memory of a thoughtful gift never fade!)

A great way to commemorate a significant athletic accomplishment! Once again, it started with a fabulous photograph of sunbeams highlighting a special hiker that I got to tweak as I pleased. Oh,the light!! So glad to be able to do this for a much-loved family!

A brand-new home...a vintage vibe..and a whole wall of DeClue's Dreamscapes landscapes on nature-inspired green make for a calming peaceful dining experience! Grateful for the opportunity to be represented in this treasured family member's home!

Storytime!! A fun loving former kindergarten student who grew up to be a brilliant, successful adventurous man not afraid to tackle his dreams including hiking hundreds of miles of trails in the West found a dog. Banjo shared in his adventures for only a short time, but will forever be remembered and celebrated in this simple watercolor that I gifted to him. Chapter Two: This grown-up kindergartner came to visit his teacher and purchased two more that reminded him of his adventures. Him: art collection begun...Me: Heart bursting!!

One of my favorites! Why? Because it was such a sweet thoughtful gift from a daughter to her mother of the grandparents' farm in another state. I LOVE to paint landscapes but the best part of this one was the rustic mailbox (altered for privacy) that had the family name on top and first names of grandparents hanging above the rusty mailbox. So special! Although the farm is no longer in the family I hope good memories of time spent there will flood back every time they see their watercolor Dreamscape commission!

Commissioned by a daughter (aren't daughters the best gift givers?) to give to her precious mother depicting a treasured view of Lake Hamilton. The memories wrapped up in this little "window" of all the seasons, times of days and special activities at this spot...priceless! Mom loved it!

I had the honor of teaching both of this sweet family's awesome children. So when Mom asked me to paint their "Happy Place" in the Ouachita forest of course I was thrilled to! I know a lot of fun creek adventures already have and will happen here and now they have a moment in time captured to trigger the memory of fun times!

When I get chance to do a "Talking Walk" with a cherished friend and colleague, especially in a beautiful place new to me on a sunny day...I'm all in! Inspired by the day and the place (along Stone Dam Creek in Conway, Ar), I had to give the above photo a try! Honestly the watercolor depiction (on 140 pound cold pressed watercolor paper with Rosa Gallery professional watercolors) isn't that exciting...but one look and I remember the warmth of the day and the friendship!
